Is Technology a Blessing or a Curse?

Well, we all know how technology became a part of our daily life. It gave so many conveniences that we became productive and disappointingly lazy at the same time. Technology is so beneficial that a man with GPS in his hands can never get lost and technology reduced the amount of paper we use. At the same time, it is addictive and distracting, that everyone just started procrastinating.

How it is affecting workflow

Workflow is majorly affected by technology with its silver lining and shortcoming like technology keeps us updated with news and incidents happening around the world, it keeps us notified with important calendar events and work reminders to get on with the important work however we are distracted by constant notifications and emails especially spam. Despite all the conveniences, students trying to accomplish their schoolwork are distracted by social media and games.

Effects on Health

One of the major advantages of technology is, it helps us have a quick look at our health with products like smartwatches and health and fitness tracking applications. Smartwatches nowadays are so powerful and efficient that they actually understand the situation we are in (as in emergencies) and contact SOS and emergency contacts which most likely save our lives as they did before.

In the meantime, people are so affected by blue light which is present in most of the devices. Exposure to blue light affects the eye resulting long term health issues of the eye not to mention higher blue light exposure will result in chronic back and shoulder pain. Effects on the eye will result in lack of sleep which affects the next progressive day.

It is what it is!

Ultimately, technology became a large part and important role in the development of human civilization but it also makes us insanely lazy not letting us unlock our full potential. But I personally believe that we’re more than capable of minimizing the negative effects of technology.
